Jackie Ahmad has always been interested in electricity and the way it powers our lives. She started her career as an operations engineer, working for utilities, to keep the lights on and to figure out how to bring the lights back after storms. To Jackie, it was always clear that renewables were the future of our power grid and she jumped at the chance to move from the grid to the generator side of the industry into solar.
Jackie has spent 10 years at SunPower in the Commissioning and Operations & Maintenance teams. When she started in solar, the largest US sites were approximately 10 MW. The scale of PV plants grew exponentially and soon she was commissioning the largest US PV power plant, at the time, at 379 MW. In her career, she has had the opportunity to work on a lot of interesting projects from large transmission-connected tracker sites to solar + storage to microgrids.
When she’s not looking at solar power plants, Jackie loves to see live music and travel to new places.
